Therapy Dog Programs
- HOSPITAL PROGRAMS
While we want all dog/handler teams to pass and participate, not every person or dog is suited for this advanced therapy work. This does NOT mean that you and your dog cannot become therapy dogs in a different venue. We currently contract with Edward Hospital, Palos Community Hospital, Northwest Community Hospital, and OSF St. Anthony Medical Center.
Please watch the video below so see the skills required for work in a hospital. Dog Builders performs a temperament test to select qualified dog/handler teams. The teams that pass our criteria and the hospital’s volunteer services application train for 3 days in order to become expert handlers in acute care settings.
- SCHOOL PROGRAMS
Reading Dog Programs for elementary schools
Teen Esteem Building
Dog Safety Programs
School Assemblies – No Bullying, Drug Deterrence, Self Esteem Workshops
- NURSING HOMES
This type of therapy dog work is very rewarding and not as stringent as hospital work. If you have decent obedience control over your dog, you may be able become a therapy dog. Contact us for more information.
