1. Puppy Building Basics I
The first weeks with a new puppy can be difficult for a person who does not like waking up every 2 hours or cleaning up potty accidents.  We provide a calm, educational environment exposing the puppy to kids, other dogs, noises, substrates, and manners.  We imprint the following commands:  kennel, quiet, leave it, off, no bite, as will as a sit for attention, food manners, and no jumping.

Each training package is customized to fit your families needs, and you are in contact by phone and receive video updates.  Your puppy will stay on schedule with his shots and worming.  A training DVD is made to show you how to continue the foundation started with us. This program is for puppies 11 weeks and younger  Contact up for prices.

2. Puppy Building Basics II
In addition to the Building Basics I, your puppy will attend group puppy training classes.  Heel on leash, sit, stay, down, down stay, sit stay, and come when called are all part of the exercises performed.  More social exposure is also experienced (vet visits, care rides, parks, etc.  You can add on as many weeks to this program as you desire.  The more we train, the less you have to.  Contact up for prices.

3. Companion, Therapy, or Extreme Dog Building
Would you like to enjoy the benefits of a well-trained, mannerly dog, without the work?  We can train a dog up for you that will easily pass all of the exercises necessary for your to become a therapy dog team.  Or we have dogs available that will just be great companions.  Call for more information regarding this program, as prices can range from $200 to $8,000 depending of the age and breed of the dog.

4. Extreme Dog Makeover (3 week minimum)
Would you like to bring your Dog's behavior to the next level?  Our Extreme Dog Makeover Dog Rehabilitation program may be the perfect jump start, reinforcement or revitalization of your current dog training regime. In this program, your dog lives at our facility and works with our professional trainers for 3-5 weeks depending upon your dogs age, temperament, and your goals for your dog.  We call this, 'extreme  makeover' because it is an opportunity for your dog to excel in the perfect training environment. We will evaluate and assist dog owners in managing and modifying a wide range of challenging behaviors, such as:

  • Aggression toward people or animals
  • Pack issues
  • Household behavior problems, such as excessive barking or digging
  • Destructive behaviors
  • Undesirable behaviors, such as jumping or nipping
  • Attachment or separation anxiety and related problems
  • Shy or fearful behaviors
  • Appetite or house training problems

We have behavior related articles (on the left drop down menu) that may help you fix some minor issues.  Check back often as articles are added on a monthly basis.

An exciting aspect of this program is our ability to work with the dogs owners/families to create a 'wish list' of goals to achieve. We will also work with you to ensure that the skills learned during your dogs extreme makeover are not lost.  Currently we are taking extreme dog makeover applications for our facility in Davenport, Iowa.  If you are interested in enrolling your dog call us for a free consultation: 563-210-8556 (ask for Jim).  Contact up for prices.

Breeder List

We recommend making a puppy/dog decision with your HEAD, not your HEART.  Do your research BEFORE going to see a puppy as puppies are very hard to resist!  Consider the following issues before you end up with the wrong dog or go to a bad breeder:

  • Breed Selection - analyze your families needs.  Consider allergies, size, temperament, energy level, longevity, and coat maintenance.
  • Breeder Selection - Get to know your breeder, before you send a deposit.  A good breeder understands genetics, perform hands on whelping techniques, and stands behind their puppies temperament and health.  Warning:  Any breeder that sends a puppy home before the age of 8 weeks is in violation the animal welfare act in most states! This said, there are some exceptions to the rule.  A few days before the age of 8 weeks is not such a big deal.  I am referring to those negligent breeders that send pups home at 5 or 6 weeks.  Help weed out backyard breeders and puppy mills and work with professionals.
  • Puppy Selection - A good breeder will select the right puppy for your family.  They evaluate the puppies for 8 weeks, so you should listen to their advice.  If your breeder is inexperienced or if you need a second opinion, we can also evaluate the litter to ensure the puppy is the right fit for your family.
Testimonials

"Dog Builders came to our house and fixed our dog in one hour.  I wish I called them 6 months ago.  I love my dog now and I feel bad because the problems were all our fault...not Buddy's."  Heather, Amboy, IL

"I spent over $1,000 with 2 other trainers and my dog was still really horrible.  I almost gave up hope until Dog Builders came over.  They evaluated us did some training exercises.  They created a behavior modification program to get my dog off anxiety medication.  After a 6 month program, my dog is now a therapy dog and he no longer needs his pills.  I wish I found them first...it would have saved me thousands of dollars."  Suzanne from Plainfield, IL

"The Vet told me that if anyone could save my dog it was Jim.  After 6 weeks of training, I can honestly say I trust that my dog won't bite me or my kids again.  He was awesome."  Marilynn, Moline, IL
