Dog Builders is lucky to have Jim Stenfeldt, owner of CM Academy of Dog Training, part of our team.  We consider him our local dog whisperer, because of his innate ability to quickly identify the root of a dog's issue, then he fixes the problem with ease.  Jim has been leading the dog training industry in the Quad Cities for over 30 years! 

His 35 years of observing dogs in households and in his private dog park have made him an expert in dog and pack behavior.  We often compare him to a Border Collie (his favorite breed) , because he is always watching and trying to 'figure it out.'

He uses positive reinforcement training, but prefers a verbal "good boy" and a rub on the head over treats.  Jim says, "Most dog owners see fast results with food, but then forget to wean them off of food.  After time, treats lose their impact and then the owner is stuck with a food obsessed dog that won't listen.  I like when a dog learns to sit with a hand signal or a verbal command, because t seems to stay in their memory better than 'a sit' for a treat.  I don't like to complicate training, but I am using a clicker in my new aggression rehabilitation program."
